While speaking to nearly 25,000 women (including myself) at the recent Women’s Conference in Long Beach, Calif., Madeleine Albright believes there is a special place in hell for women who don’t help each other. Now, these may seem like harsh words, especially coming from a woman who was named the first female Secretary of State in 1997. But with women making up half the workforce and two-thirds of them serving as the primary or co-bread winner today, it’s more important than ever for women to have a good support system to help them succeed. Think of the progress women have made since 1959 when Albright graduated Wellesley and was told her job was to raise smart children. She did just that. She raised three daughters and is now a proud grandma of six. And she did all this, while on her way to assuming the role as one of the highest-ranking women in the history of the U.S. government.
This is great advice for all women, whether you’re in corporate America, raising children or embarking in a new career. Intuit’s previous research also sheds light on the important role women continue to play shaping the future of small business.
